Extra Information Chopin's authorship of this work has often been questioned. No autograph exists, and the first known edition from the 1840s ascribes it to Charles Mayer, who most probably added music of his own: Mazurka in F-sharp major. The published edition is 218 bars long, but Jan Ekier attempted to reconstruct the sections plausibly composed by Chopin in the National Edition of 1990 (revised 2006).
